I just finished reading an essay that Andrea McDowell has submitted for DAW and wanted to write a post immediately. Andrea’s essay is about being a single mother with diabetes and how difficult it is to take care of yourself when you are parenting on your own. Her essay is brilliant, and has reminded me of why I need to make this book happen. Even though I am not a single mother as I read Andrea’s essay, I saw myself in her story, and felt a little less alone. This is what Dreaming About Water is meant to do.
